August - Thursday 15th - Mersey Dee Magic Competition, at St Werburgh's Parish Centre, 26 Brook Street Chester, CH1 3DZ, 7.00 pm. Members of the public welcome - free entry.

October - Lecture with Ferran Rizo and Nataly Machado, at St Werburgh's Parish Centre, 26 Brook Street Chester, CH1 3DZ, 7.30 pm. £5 entry. Visiting magicians from other societies welcome.

The Chester Guild of Magicians presents... "an evening of Magic" was a fantastic night! Many thanks to all who bought tickets, performed on stage and around the tables and all who supported the show in any way. The night was a great success, with £500 raised for Brain Tumour Research. We are also going to make a donation to Nicola's Fund - a local respite care charity for children affected by cancer and their families.

The Guild will be hosting the Mersey Dee Magic Competition later this year, on Thursday 15th August. We will be defending our title as current champions against the North Wales Magic Circle, Liverpool Mahatma Magic Circle and Liverpool Magic Circle. Details about the event will be posted on the website and Facebook soon.

We are planning another "evening of magic" on Saturday 1st June for the RAOB (The Royal Antediliuvian Order of Buffaloes. They are fundraising for the British Cardiac Patient's Association and other local charities this year. It will be held at St. Werburgh's Parish Centre and tickets are only £10. Please email the secretary at paulshanleymagic@hotmail.co.uk to book tickets.

We welcome two guest magicians for a lecture on Thursday 17th October. Ferran Rizo and his wife Nataly Machado are from Spain, both teachers at the Juan Tamariz School. They have also recently been performing magic on Spanish TV in a show called "Increíble pero Magia" - "Incredible but Magic". Both present a lecture during their visit and are available on our Guild night that month. They toured the UK last year and were well received by many magical societies. We look forward to welcoming them to Chester!
